Safety is clearly not our top priority

Safety is important, but an intellectually honest examination of organization-wide objectives shows that it’s nowhere near our top priority.  Senior executives from 100 of our business units were asked to name their number one priority, and the twenty most popular responses appear below.

  1. Profit
  2. Profit
  3. Profit
  4. Profit
  5. Profit
  6. Profit
  7. Profit
  8. Profit
  9. Profit
  10. Profit
  11. Profit
  12. Profit
  13. Profit
  14. Profit
  15. Profit
  16. Profit
  17. Profit
  18. Safety
  19. Profit
  20. Profit

Fortunately, the Everything’s a Priority project management system should soon level the playing field and give safety a fighting chance.

UPDATE: The list above was circulated with a typo. The entry at #18 should read “profit.” We apologize for any confusion.
